1984, Toronto Rock N' Roll Revival 1969, Volume IV, picture-disc vinyl

1984 UK release, Picture-disc vinyl
Toronto Rock N' Roll Revival 1969, Volume IV

I believe my brother picked this up for me. He didn't see
it in my collection. It's cool to have since I don't really
collect picture-disc. I think I have 2 or 3 picture-disc vinyl.

Now this Picture-disc vinyl has listed the songs in the same order
and titles as the 1982 release of "Toronto Rock N' Roll Revival 1969, Volume IV"
that I previously posted on Sept 26, 2014.

The photos used on this vinyl were from 1973.

Excuse the crud scan of the vinyl it's not easy piecing it together.
Square album cover are much easier to tile.

1982, Toronto Rock N' Roll Revival 1969, Volume IV

1982, vinyl
Toronto Rock N' Roll Revival 1969, Volume IV

I remember I was surprised finding this album in the
Newington Mall in New Hampshire back in the summer of '82.
This is the first time I seen this album and believe this is the first
time this record was released. After that it pops up with
different covers and titles like "Ladies Man", "Home To Mother",
"Legends", "Live Painting", "Nobody Likes Me", "In Concert" just to name a few.
I'm pretty sure another 10 have been released in the past week.

A cassette titled "Freak Out Song" I posted back on January 3, 2013.
Some others I have on CD are"Freak Out",
"Snorting Anthrax", and "Live in Toronto 1969"
and a picture vinyl titled "Toronto Rock N' Roll Revival 1969, Volume IV".

Recorded at an outdoor festival in Toronto, Canada, this show included such acts as Lennon and Yoko Ono, The Doors, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Fats Domino, Bo Diddley and Gene Vincent (which the Alice Cooper Band backed) to name a few.

Depending on which CD you buy the tracks may switch around and the songs have the incorrect titles. On the "Group Instrumental" track which is listed different on these albums is actually part of “Lie Down & Die, Goodbye” that appears on their Easy Action album.
Same goes for “I’ve Written Home To Mother” which is also part of “Lie Down & Die, Goodbye.”
“Painting A Picture” is “No Longer Umpire” from Pretties For You album.
“Freak Out Song” is “Don’t Blow Your Mind” from their Spiders years.
“Science Fiction” is “Fields of Regret” from Pretties For You album.
“Nobody Likes Me” is the only correct title which appears on Whiskey A Go Go 1969 album released in 1992. A demo of this song appears on "The Life and Crimes of Alice Cooper" Boxed set released in 1999.

The 2 non-Alice Cooper tracks that come in debate among Alice fans are “Ain’t That Just Like A Woman” and ‘Going To The River” appear on these recordings. It all depends on who you listen too or what story you heard first. Some say it was The Alice Cooper Group being the backing band for Gene Vincent, which is true they did back Gene Vincent but not sure these are Gene Vincent songs. The other story is the 2 tracks are by Ronnie Hawkins that just happen to fill up the space of the album. Members from Ronnie Hawkin’s fan club believe it to be Hawkins himself. As it was stated in Dale Sherman’s book “The Illustrated Collector’s Guide To Alice Cooper”.

So as for the actual live Alice recordings they are very interesting to hear. It’s listening to the original band perform which I never had the pleasure to see live. I like the version of “Science Fiction” aka “Fields of Regret” which comes across very Pink Floyd.

1978, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club, soundtrack, vinyl, Because by Alice Cooper

1978, double vinyl
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Soundtrack
"Because" cover by Alice Cooper and The Bee Gees

The album is just as bad as the movie. Aerosmith were the only ones
to come out unscathed. It took me a longtime to like
Alice's version of "Because" but that's it for the album.

Since my scanner is smaller than vinyl album size I am
missing some of the album art. I usually tile the art
in 4 scans but you get the picture.

I found this online
much better than my scan image

It's said that Alice was in rehab and had to get permission
to leave & work on this project. I always say if the Doctors
ever seen this movie they would never release him.

I remember buying this album in Maine during the summertime.
I had to return the first purchase because it skipped so the guy
gave me the poster that was included in the LP so I have
a copy of the inside poster.

Alice Cooper has just cut the ribbon on Alice's Attic, a thrift store he recently opened
in the same Phoenix building that houses his Rock Teen Center on the southeastern

1977, K-tel, Music Machine, You and Me by Alice Cooper

As a kid growing up in the 70's K-Tel records were
me & my brother's introduction to our own vinyl collection.
We first got ourselves a turntable for Christmas around '70, '71
which was accompanied with a K-Tel record each Christmas for
the past few years then about in '75 I started purchasing my own albums.
Of course during those times I would borrow my sister's LPs
as long as I put them back. I would listen to Jimi Hendrix,
Big Brother and The Holding Company (Janis Joplin)
"Cheap Thrills" LP. I loved "Ball and Chain" track
and liked the Robert Crumb cover art.
Steppenwolf "Born To Be Wild" LP which was my all time favorite song.
The Who "Tommy", The Beatles "Something New" lp among the
ones I can remember off the top of my head.

I just happen to find this on line and didn't know Alice Cooper
appeared on a K-Tel record titled "Music Machine"

1988, Iron Eagle II, soundtrack, vinyl

1988, vinyl
Iron Eagle II Soundtrack

An action movie that wasn't bad at all. Alice is only involved in one soundtrack number "I've Got A Line On You" which is a cover from the band Spirit. Alice gives his own style of this cover which sounds like it was an Alice Cooper original.

This soundtrack has musicians who were popular around that time so it has the 80's vibe to it. Such artist as Britney Fox, Rick Springfield, Henry Lee Summer, etc.

"I've Got A Line On You" later appears on Alice's "The Life And Crimes..." Box Set and "Freedom For Frankenstein" an Australia made CD put out by Raven label.

I didn't know Alice was on this soundtrack. I was checking out the new arrival record bin
when I seen his name listed on the cover. I expressed my surprise with an involuntary outburst of "yeah!" as I looked up I noticed another customer across the record bin staring at me.

Photographer Charlie Auringer

For those who use to read CREEM issues you came across
Photographer Charlie Auringer. CREEM closed in '85 and
Charlie currently a graphic designer and web designer for Big City Blues.

There is a special page for Charlie Auringer that shows
a number of his photos. Some you have seen before & some rare ones.
From Elvis, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Kiss and more.

If you checkout the Alice Cooper section it's listed as 1973
but a number of photos range earlier than '73 I say far back as '71 and up to '75.
There are some candid shots of Alice Cooper playing softball
on the Alice Cooper farm in MI., as well as Neal and Glen shooting rifles.

1980, Roadie, Soundtrack, vinyl

1980, double vinyl
Roadie Soundtrack

Just like Sgt Pepper another really bad movie with musicians in it. The double LP gives us a range of performers from different styles. You have Alice Cooper, Blondie, Styx, Roy Orbison, Hank Williams Jr., Cheap Trick, Asleep At The Wheel, Eddie Rabbitt, Teddy Pendergrass...it gets worst.

This came out in Alice's New Wave period 1980 during his "Flush The Fashion" album release. In this movie Alice appears in his classic eye make-up self.
The movie "Roadie" was influenced by Alice's song "Road Rats" on his "Lace And Whiskey" album which one of the songs on this album. The other song is "Pain" from "Flush The Fashion" LP. Both songs by Alice are his own recordings. But for this album he re-recorded these songs and they sound great. Both of the songs are produced by Todd Rundgren and his backing band Utopia are Alice's band along with Davey Johnstone who played and toured with Alice. On "Road Rats" Todd also did background vocals as in "Pain" he just produced. Anyway the songs are very well done. Alice's Box Set only has "Road Rats".
Alice makes an appearance near the end of the movie with some dialog and performing portions of  "Road Rats", "Pain" and "Only Women Bleed".

April 20, 1968, newspaper clipping

I found this on line somewhere
it is dated April 20, 1968
but as you see the autograph by Alice is dated 1998.

Funny thing are the names listed below the picture.
Glen is Fabian Buxton and Neal Smith is Neal S. Myth.
As the caption reads "Formerly the Nazz, now  ALICE COOPER..."
I wonder if this was a typo or did Neal & Glen use an alias
during those days. I never read anything about them using one.

I'm believe this is 2011 by the look of Alice's hat
that is on the cover of "Welcome 2 My Nightmare".
This is a poster promoting Radio Station Kiss FM

I found this online. Sian also did
a John Lennon and Ozzy version.

Halford picks Billion Dollar Babies as one of his 10 albums that changed his life

This article was on Metal Hammer and Musicradar websites a while back.
I didn't see any talk about it so I thought I would bring it up.

Judas Priest Rob Halford list his 10 life changing albums that
has Alice Cooper's Billion Dollar Babies at #9.

On Musicradar.com Rob goes through each album.
I just listed his comment on Billion Dollar Babies below

9/10 - Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies, 1973

“My neighbor from Phoenix, Alice Cooper. When he burst onto the scene, he was the originator of the genre that some people call ‘shock rock.’ However you describe it, he was surrounded by really talented players. Of course, there was Dick Wagner, who sadly passed away just recently.

“If you listen to the early recordings or watch footage of Alice, it’s undeniable that he was a game-changer. At the time, people didn’t know what to think: ‘What is this guy? What’s happening, man?’ [laughs] But he was just so entertaining. He believed in putting on a show, and that kind of thinking went into my persona as a performer on stage.

“I picked Billion Dollar Babies because it’s kind of concept-y. Fabulous tunes, great production and just all-out creativity. And it’s fantastic that Alice is still doing it. He’s out there making great music and playing live. I just love him.”

1. The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Electric Ladyland
2. Cream – Disraeli Gears
3. The Beatles – Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
4. Led Zeppelin – Led Zeppelin II
5. David Bowie – The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars
6. King Crimson – In The Court Of The Crimson King
7. The Rolling Stones – Get Yer Ya-Ya’s Out
8. John Mayall – Blues From Laurel Canyon
9. Alice Cooper – Billion Dollar Babies
10. Queen – Queen

Jake The Snake health update

About a week ago Jake The Snake was in the hospital with double pneumonia.
It's good to hear that he's been taken off the respirator and responding with little speech
although he has been asking for donuts. Ya gotta luv the guy!

Remember on March 29, 1987 Wrestlemania III aired and how we
all were excited about Alice Cooper's appearance with Jake The Snake
who was fighting Honky Tonk Man with his manager Jimmy "Mouth of The South" Hart.
There is a good reflection of that time at

2007, Mick Mashbir "Keepin' The Vibe Alive"

2007, CD
 "Keepin' The Vibe Alive"
Mick Mashbir

Mick Mashbir played supporting guitarist for Alice Cooper during the Billion Dollar Babies Tour and recording w/ the band as well as on Michael Bruce’s solo album. It’s also noted to point out that Mick played w/ Michael Bruce pre-Alice Cooper in a band called The Wildflowers. Mick also gave guitar lessons to friend Michael so you can hear how close the influences of each other as well as the vocals.

Mick finally put out a solo album of his own. This recording sounded like it could of came right after the Billion Dollar Babies Tour as Mick intended on doing a classic rock album. Mick says “We wanted to make a record that sounds like it came from the 60’s…not the piled on guitar sounds of the 90’s.” So in 97 they decided to record & write songs w/ longtime drummer/friend Donald Lindley. They even had guest Faces, Ian McLagan and former band mate from the Billion Dollar Babies Tour Bob Dolin.
Unfortunately tragedy would strike as Donald Lindley succumb to cancer in ’98. This struck a blow to Mick as he would say that he couldn’t even listen to the recordings for sometime. Finally in 2006 Mick finally put some finishing touches on it & released in 2007.

Some of the outstanding tracks are American Weirdo, Mirror Man, Same, Hold On.

Band Members:
MICK MASHBIR: GUITARS AND VOCALS
DONALD LINDLEY: DRUMS
JOHN CIAMBOTTI: BASS
IAN McLAGAN: HAMMOND B3 ORGAN ON "WINGS" AND "KTVA"
BOB DOLIN: STRINGS AND PIANO ON "HOLD ON"

Still available at Mick Mashbir

1997, Joe Bouchard Presents The X Brothers - Solid Citizens, (Neal Smith and Dennis Dunaway co-wrote a few tracks)

1997, CD
Solid Citizen
Joe Bouchard Presents The X Brothers

Neal Smith and Dennis Dunaway do not appear on this album but they co-wrote a few tracks.
"Love's A Killer" (which was taken from Deadringer album) and "Wild Ones" written by Neal, Dennis and Bouchard
"On Fire With Love" was written by Bouchard, A. Hilfiger, B. Hilfiger, Neal Smith.
The X Brothers band is Joe Bouchard, Jimmy Cacala, Andy and Billy Hilfiger.
"Love's A Killer" sounded better on this recording than Deadringer. To me production-wise it sounded clearer.
"Wild Ones" is a good rockin' song and "On Fire With Love" has some good guitar work.
In a whole this album isn't bad.

I didn't scan the rest of the CD book since no relation to Dennis or Neal.
I also had to adjust the cropping to make the bullets line up with

is higher than right which was hard to follow.
